Textile Conservation Centre

I just wrote a post on the TextileArts.net news page about the proposed closure of the Textile Conservation Centre , with a link to the e-petition on the Downing Street site. You can only sign the petition if you’re a British citizen or resident. I really hope a solution can be found in time. I’m going to write to my MP too - I use www.writetothem.com, as it’s so easy.

angel card

I got my swap card made (just) in time to post for the deadline! I used to make Christmas cards every year (not stitched - printed, painted or collaged) but in recent years I haven’t always managed even to send cards, let alone make them. Although my work-life balance has started to shift in the direction of life during 2007 I know I won’t be making many cards by hand again just yet, but I think it would be fun to stitch some images and scan them to reproduce.

Draw Something Every Day

angels

Not quite Monday but I’ve been drawing angels this week so here are some for the Draw Something Every Day challenge. I have an imminent deadline for an embroidered Christmas card swap and I love angels so have been playing with some images that I could stitch. Fresh from delighting in the work of Tilleke Schwarz and Primmy Chorley at the Knitting and Stitching Show (of which more later), I realise how much I’m attracted to embroidered words and would like to explore this further.

Draw Something Every Day

Tansy the Tibbie

Yay, I kept the Draw Something Every Day challenge this week. This is Tansy, who loves to snuggle herself into anything soft she happens to find - duvets, blankets, jumpers, baskets of clean washing, going away bags… I love the comfortable folds she creates around herself. I’d like to do this in machine stitching with a touch of appliqué.

inspirations

Just a round up of some things that have inspired me as I caught up with some of my favourite blogs today…

And two new blogs: Inspiration Boards, thanks to Claire at Little Fish Creations, and kris’s color stripes, thanks to my friend Helen.
