I’m not sure about either of the pieces of felt I made today but at least I made them 🙂 One is an experiment stitching into prefelt before felting – more play with a piece of fleece. The images show before and after the felting was completed:

I want to explore this effect some more, but would prefer finer wools for the stitching, I think.  Then, rather than getting all wet and soapy for one little piece, I also made another piece of felt based on thoughts of the sea at sunset. It didn’t really turn out as I wanted, but it’s all experience.

I really like the misty quality of the stitched piece after felting.Does felting work with acrylic wool? its the only thing close to real wool which I can access easily. maybe I should give it a try.

acrylic wool won’t felt – I think it doesn’t respond the same way as an animal fibre does to the combination of heat, water and friction that turns wool into felt.

Wow, wow, I like the felted in stitches! Exciting possiblities!
It would be fun to try to stitch with acrylic wool and then felt the piece…

did I get this wrong, I told Maya acrylic wool doesn’t felt – but it would need to have some wool fleece as well? I obviously need to give it a try too!
